Academy of Marketing 2020 Conference – Important Announcement
Dear Academy of Marketing Community
Given the global pandemic we are all experiencing, the Academy of Marketing Executive and the AM2020 organising team at Edge Hill University have taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 conference that was due to take place in July.
We appreciate that this will be very disappointing news for the large numbers of you who are and have been committed supporters of our annual event. We also very much appreciate the time that many of you have taken to craft a strong submission and send it through to us. For this reason we are planning to stop the review process with immediate effect and give you the opportunity to resubmit your paper, either to an alternative conference later in the year or to our 2021 annual conference which will be hosted by Huddersfield University Business School
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the team at Edge Hill for all their efforts in supporting this year’s conference. We know they had an excellent academic and social programme planned for delegates, and as an Executive we offer our deep appreciation for their understanding and teamwork in coming to this decision.
While the conference itself will now not happen in 2020, our 2020 research, impact and teaching funding processes are currently underway. We will be in touch with all the award winners in due course.
The Doctoral Colloquium is also cancelled and we will contact all submitting students individually to offer support and feedback.
Post pandemic we will continue to support the academic marketing community with a range of workshops and events and look forward to your participation. As the conference is the main conduit for members to renew their membership for the following year, we would ask you to consider renewing your membership directly with the Academy to ensure that AM can continue to support its annual programme of funding and events, including support for doctoral students, ECRs and Special Interest Groups. In 2020 the Academy had budgeted over £70K for this programme. To help this year’s membership renewal process, the Academy will start taking renewals for the 2020-2021 membership year from 1 April 2020, and all memberships paid after this date will run until 31 August 2021.
