This list has been compiled from the AM research register and the Zetoc register of marketing titles/articles augmented by a search of members’ publications websites. The criteria used was to seek out where marketing academics published their work. The AMRC has applied a simply categorisation of journals in terms of those deemed mainstream marketing, those which are management, and other. It is emphasised that this is an arbitrary categorisation and is open to criticism in a variety of ways, not least it does not take account of the importance of some journals in sub areas of marketing. What does the list say? It will say different things to different people depending upon what they want it to say of indeed what agenda they bring to it. Some speculation might be:
AMRC welcomes members views on any aspect of this list. Perhaps some feedback on the value or otherwise of such a list. Desirables, or not? Should an attempt be made to ‘rank’ this list, and if so by what criteria. Is it possible to ‘position’ journals more definitively than the broad categorisation offered here? Any other ideas are welcome. Any volunteers for further work on this list are welcome. |
