The Academy of Marketing is pleased to announce the recipients of funding for research into Teaching & Learning for 2012/2013.
- Michael Harker, University of Strathclyde – Undergraduate Marketing Education in the UK
- Nikoletta-Theofania Siamagka and George Christodoulides from Henley Business School - Learning about and through Social Media in Higher Education: An Investigation into UG Marketing Education
Outputs and Dissemination
On completion, projects should typically provide information and/or resources regarding learning, teaching and assessment which will promote good practice and be of value to the marketing subject area. We are keen to move away from the traditional type of academic reports which are often required on completion of a project, therefore only a fairly brief summary report detailing issues investigated, what has been achieved and the challenges encountered is required. It is preferred that outputs and dissemination concentrate on activities and publications which are accessible to marketing academics.
Plans for dissemination are likely to vary according to whether the project emphasis is on research or development. Outputs may include items available via institutional websites (with access from outside the host institution), leaflets or booklets for distribution to network contacts, or submissions to journals or the wider press. We expect to work with project teams to support effective dissemination of the activities undertaken, for example by:
- Helping to organise and run workshops or seminars, or offer time within planned network events
- Providing access to project materials or resources via our websites, or providing publishing opportunities via resource guides, case studies, magazine articles as well as scholarly papers
Outputs and dissemination plans that contribute to the Academy of Marketing’s existing activities are particularly encouraged.
All projects are required to acknowledge the support of the Academy of Marketing in any dissemination activities. This should take the form of the AM logo (supplied on request by the AM Administrative office), along with the following wording:
"This resource was created by [author name] at [institution name] and is an outcome of research funded in part by an Academy of Marketing Teaching Research and Development Grant. Any views expressed in this publication are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Academy of Marketing.
The Academy of Marketing (AM) is a Learned Society catering for the needs of Marketing researchers, educators and professionals. More information can be found at www.academyofmarketing.org".
It is also a condition of accepting a grant that the recipients become members of the Academy of Marketing (if they are not already members).
The first half of the funding will be released during September 2012 and interim reports are expected in February 2013. The second half of the funding will be released on successful completion of projects as judged by final reports in July 2013.
Successful grant holders will be expected to disseminate their findings at a dedicated AM workshop in November 2013 as well as other methods as appropriate.
If you have any queries regarding the nature of proposals or criteria prior to the project submission deadline please contact Lorna Walker (email@example.com) or Monica Gibson-Sweet (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Reporting and Financial Arrangements
Following approval of a project proposal the Network will maintain contact with project teams. A brief interim report to monitor the progress made will be required, as will a final report on successful completion of the work. Once funding is agreed, payment will be made in two parts, one following agreement and signature of the funding contract and one on successful completion of the project. The final payment for the project will not be released until the final report has been received by the Academy of Marketing Education Sub-Committee and an invoice (with full receipts) submitted to the AM Treasurer on or before 31st December 2013.
