About the SIG

In the UK there is a long history of business with markets in the Asia Pacific region. For example, the government has been in partnership with the industry in the form of China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) with a proven track record of developing British trade in China dating back to the 1950s. Since 1980s, many British firms have developed businesses in China, Japan, Australia, New Zeeland and other countries in this region. A large number of members of the Academy of Marketing have been active in researching marketing and business issues in the Asia Pacific region. To facilitate research interests and dialogue on marketing and business issues in the Asia Pacific area, the Asia Pacific Marketing SIG was initiated by Dr. Charles Cui in 2004 and was formally approved at the Academy of Marketing 2005 annual meeting.
