Academic-Practitioner Togetherness

Print
Following the Special Session on the Academic-Practitioner Divide at the Academy of Marketing Conference at Liverpool, an initiative was taken, together with The Chartered Institute of Marketing, to set up a LinkedIn Group to bring together academics and practitioners who are keen to bridge the gap. We would like AM members to join the Group and contribute to the discussions and information sharing. To do so, view the group by logging in to www.linkedin.com and searching for ‘Bridging the Marketing Academic/Practitioner gap’. To participate, click join or email Diane Earles for a personal invitation. Further information on the AM Special Session will be in the next issue of Journal of Customer Behaviour.

Two new Open Educational Resources

Print
Two new ‘free’ Open Educational Resources (OERs) have recently gone 'live':

An insider's guide to becoming a Business Academic:
Questions, answers and checklists for new Business Academics
http://research-archive.liv.ac.uk/3533/ http://resources.jorum.ac.uk:80/xmlui/handle/123456789/15466
designed as a ‘hit the ground running’ guide aimed at new and aspiring Business Academics and a
Business Education Jargon Buster

http://research-archive.liv.ac.uk/3593/ http://resources.jorum.ac.uk:80/xmlui/handle/123456789/15474
designed as a glossary of terms to help the academic community, and beyond, make sense of all the acronyms that surround us in Business Education.

Both resources are part of a HEFCE funded, JISC/HEA, BMAF managed, Open for Business (O4B) OER project. Further information about all the free resources attached to this project can be found at
http://resources.jorum.ac.uk/xmlui/browse?rpp=20&value=Open+for+Business&etal=-1&type=subject&sort_by=-1&order=ASC&offset=0

Many of these resources have been released under a Creative Commons Non-Commercial-Share-Alike Licence which allows us to re-model and re-purpose them to suit our own professional development needs. Please enjoy improving them!
